CYBER INITIATIVE TOKYO 2026

OVERVIEW

Escalating Cyber Risks in the Age of AI:
Building Resilience for an Uncertain Future From Tokyo, Japan to the World

What is happening in Japan’s cybersecurity landscape, and what discussions are shaping its future? Cyber Initiative Tokyo 2026 will bring the latest cybersecurity insights and developments from Tokyo to audiences across Japan and around the world.

The central focus of this year’s event is preparing for an AI-driven society. As AI becomes an indispensable part of our economy and daily lives, it holds tremendous potential to enhance cybersecurity through improved vulnerability discovery, threat detection and incident response. At the same time, new risks are emerging, including attacks that exploit vulnerabilities identified by advanced frontier AI systems. To fully realize the benefits of AI, organizations must understand these evolving risks and strengthen their ability to anticipate, manage and recover from them.

Another major focus is the rapid increase in cyberattacks. Combined with the growing impact of natural disasters, this trend underscores the need for all organizations to ensure the sovereignty of their data and systems, enabling them to maintain control and recover independently during times of crisis. In this environment, organizations are increasingly expected to strengthen their intelligence capabilities to analyze developments and respond swiftly to emerging threats.

As we navigate an increasingly uncertain future, resilience has become more important than ever. By bringing together leaders from government, industry and academia, Cyber Initiative Tokyo 2026 aims to strengthen societal resilience through a shared foundation of knowledge. Participants will examine both the opportunities and risks presented by AI and other emerging technologies while exchanging insights, experiences and best practices.

The Japanese government has identified cybersecurity as one of its 17 strategic fields. The event will explore the potential of emerging technologies, including AI, and examine the ideal framework for public-private collaboration.

As in the previous year, the event will feature sessions co-hosted with Japan’s National Cyber Office (NCO). Joint sessions will provide the latest updates on Japan’s cybersecurity policies and initiatives, while also exploring the future of international cooperation and public-private collaboration in an increasingly complex cybersecurity environment.

We look forward to welcoming you to Cyber Initiative Tokyo 2026.
