Tomoko Iida, holds a MEng in Biomedical Engineering and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and a MBA from Imperical College London. Tomoko is currently Director of Regional Scientific Affairs - Asia at Philip Morris International, where she is responsible for driving the business transformation strategy in Asia Pacific towards a smoke-free future, focusing on THR (Tobacco Harm Reduction) and RRP (Reduced Risk Products) scientific engagement and commercialization. Prior to moving to a regional role from Tokyo, she led the company’s endeavor to promote a Smoke-Free Japan, accelerating its initiatives to achieve a regulatory framework appropriate for RRP by reinforcing regulatory and commercial support as well as driving scientific engagement and studies in coordination with PMI R&D.

She worked before at MIT Biotechnology Process Engineering Center in USA, Sony Corporation Life Science Lab in Japan and Apivita Natural Products in Greece, bridging science and commercialization to contribute to public health and develop better society for next generation by leveraging innovation and technology.
