Ahmed Al Darei is a Space Policy and Legislation Specialist at the UAE Space Agency, where he leads strategic initiatives shaping the future of the national space sector. He manages the Space Economic Zones Program, recognized as a UAE Government “Transformational Project,” and has showcased Emirati space achievements at global platforms including the Dubai Airshow’s first Space Pavilion and the “Space for Sustainability” Pavilion at COP28.
Ahmed was also a core team member of the Abu Dhabi Space Debate, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and has represented the country at international forums such as the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS). In addition, he manages UAE-Japan cooperation in space, and in 2024 he organized the UAE-Japan Space Sector Joint Workshop, bringing together more than 50 Emirati and Japanese companies to strengthen bilateral collaboration.
Earlier in his career, Ahmed contributed to developing the UAE Space Science and Technology Policy and managed the UAE Meteor Monitoring Network, establishing observation stations, publishing scientific research, and training young Emiratis in space sciences. Through his work, Ahmed continues to advance the UAE’s global leadership in space policy, diplomacy, and innovation, while empowering the next generation of Emirati talent.
