Cheng Ting-Fang is the Chief Tech Correspondent with Nikkei Asia, Nikkei Inc.’s flagship English publication. She is primarily based in Taipei and covering the global semiconductor industry, all the things about tech supply chain. Ms Cheng has been intensively covering the tech supply chain across the region, closely following China’s ambition to develop semiconductor industry and the impact of U.S.-China geopolitical tension on the global chip industry and tech supply chain. Ms Cheng was the co-winner of the 2022 Hinrich Foundation Award for Distinguished Reporting in Trade. She was the Nikkei Asia team winning general excellence for Best in Business Awards with the U.S. Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW) in 2023 and 2022 with her tech coverage. Additionally, Ms Cheng has been recognized by several SOPA Awards and finalists in categories including scoops, business, tech reporting, and explanatory journalism. She was also the co-winner of gold and silver awards in feature writing with the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) in 2021 and 2022, respectively. As a business and tech reporter, Ms Cheng has experience reporting across China, Taiwan, Europe, Southeast Asia and the U.S.
