Kazunari Mizuno

Mizuno is a chief researcher at NTT DOCOMO Mobile Society Research Institute.

Since 2015, Mizuno has been conducting actual research and analysis on “the elderly and usage of ICT.” For nearly 10 years, he has been pursuing what ICT can contribute to enrich the lives of the elderly.

His main research topics include “the lifestyles of the elderly (connections with people through the use of ICT and how ICT changes the elderly’s lifestyles, hobbies, loneliness, and isolation), and the relationship between ICT and disaster prevention and mitigation among the elderly. The results of his research and analysis are published in reports and presented at various academic conferences, in books, and on the institute's website.

He holds a master's degree and a Ph.D. in gerontology from J. F. Oberlin University.

Mizuno is a member of Japan Socio-Gerontological Society, Society of Applied Gerontology-Japan, the Behaviormetric Society (BMS), the Japanese Society of Social Psychology, the Society of Socio-Informatics, The Japan Society of Information and Communication Research, JApan Society for Disaster Information Studies, Japan Society for Natural Disaster Science, Japan Association for Educational Media Study, Japan Society for Educational Technology.

Mizuno is a Certified Social Researcher and a disaster prevention expert. His publications include the book "Mobile Usage Trend 2022-2023: Reading with Data.
