Yasuyuki Taki serves as Co-Deputy Director of Smart-Aging Research Center, (S.A.R.C.), a professor of Department of Aging Research and Geriatric Medicine at the Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer (IDAC), Tohoku University, and CEO of CogSmart Co., Ltd., a start-up company spun off from Tohoku University. He is a medical practitioner and holds an M.D. Taki graduated from Tohoku University Faculty of Science and School of Medicine and became an assistant professor and associate professor at IDAC before assuming the current posts. He is also a member of the Japan Geriatrics Society and a six-time winner of society awards including the first-place prize at the 68th general meeting of the Japan Radiological Society.
Using large-scale brain MRI database, Taki engages in brain development and aging research, covering a range of topics from child brain development to senile dementia prevention, which can be found in his numerous published papers. To bring these research outcomes back to society, he founded CogSmart in 2019, a university spin-off at which he serves as CEO.
