Born in Kyoto Prefecture. Graduated from the Medical School of Tokyo University in 1986. After stints in the First Surgical Department at Tokyo University, and Department of Pathology at Cancer Institute, etc. he joined Aflac in 1994 and was involved in insurance underwriting, payment, product development, etc. primarily in cancer insurance.
Presently, he is working on collaboration/cooperation with various internal and external players toward building a "cancer ecosystem" aimed at resolving social issues surrounding cancer patients and their families.
