Minister for Digital Transformation / Minister in charge of Cybersecurity

He worked as an emergency physician and trauma surgeon at Nippon Medical School, where he developed the emergency and critical care center into one of the nation's leading trauma center. He is a pioneer in helicopter emergency medicine who played a key role in spreading Doctor Helicopter nationwide. During this period, he has gained the fame of “top-knife” as a trauma surgeon in Japan. As a DMAT (Disaster Medical Assistance Team) member, he was dispatched to the Niigata Chuetsu-oki Earthquake in 2007 and the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, among others. His experience responding to the COVID-19 pandemic at the Chiba Prefectural Government led him to recognize the need for a resilient medical system, even in emergencies and the vulnerability of the nation's crisis management. This prompted him to decide to enter politics and respond to the Liberal Democratic Party's public recruitment.

In the House of Representatives general election in autumn 2021, he ran from Chiba's 13th district and won his first term. In September 2023, he was appointed Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense in the Second Kishida Cabinet (Second Reshuffled). Following his re-election (second term) in the October 2024 general election, he was appointed Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Ishiba Cabinet. He assumed his current position when the Takaichi Cabinet was formed in October 2025.
