He joined the National Police Agency of Japan in 1988. After serving as Chief of Toyama Prefectural Police, Deputy Director General of the Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office, and Senior Councilor of the National Police Agency, he retired as Director General of the Security Bureau in August 2022. His career has been focused on the Security Division, which is in charge of intelligence gathering and analysis and countermeasures against terrorism and cyber attacks, disaster countermeasures, and large-scale security, as well as in fields such as criminal, public safety, and traffic police, and in organizational management. In particular, after the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States, he worked for the embassy in Indonesia and at the core posts for international counterterrorism and intelligence in Japanese government. He has been in his current position since January of this year. The center is promoting civil-government-academia collaboration in the field of cyber crime countermeasures, while also working on international cooperation with the U.S. NCFTA and other organizations.
