Mr. IIDA Yoichi has served as Cabinet Councillor, National Security Secretariat (NSS) since July 2022. He is also appointed as Director General for Economic Security at Cabinet Office in July 2023. He is responsible for planning and implementing economic security policies, including Economic Security Promotion Act.

Before joining NSS, he was Director General　of the Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry(METI).

During his career at METI, he held various posts, including Director General of Trade Control Department, Director for Manufacturing Industries Policy, Director of the Aerospace and Defense Industry Division, Director General of European Office of New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) in France, Director of the Space Industry Office, He has a B.A. of Engineering at University of Tokyo and an M.A. in International Development Policy at Duke University in the United States.
