Céline Pajon is Head of Japan and Indo-Pacific research at Ifri’s Center for Asian Studies. She is also a Senior Associate Researcher at the Japan Chair of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and an International Visiting Fellow at the Canon Institute for Global Studies (CIGS) in Tokyo. In 2025, she received the Yasuhiro Nakasone Award for her work contributing to better understanding of Japan in France and Europe. She was a Visiting Researcher at the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) in 2016. A graduate of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva and Sciences Po Lyon, she spent two years studying in Japan, at Waseda University (Tokyo) and Osaka University.
