Kristy Tsun-Tzu Hsu

Director of the Taiwan ASEAN Studies Center, Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research

Kristy Hsu is the Director of the Taiwan ASEAN Studies Center of Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, a leading non-profit policy- oriented economic research institute in Taiwan. Her research interests include Southeast Asian study, regional economic integration, international trade policy and economic/trade law, and recently a focus on supply chains resilience and economic security issues. She was a visiting Fellow at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) in Seoul, South Korea, and the Washington D.C. based Wilson Center, where she published a series of publications on US Strategy on Semiconductor Supply Chains in 2022 and since then has deep dived into geo-political issues and major powers’ strategy on semiconductor sector and Taiwan’s response/collaboration.

As advisor to main business associations and industrial organizations, including National Federation of Industries of Taiwan and the Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Asia, Kristy advises on the Taiwanese government’s external relations and economic/trade policy, particularly on FTA policy, cross-strait economic relations, supply chain issues, and Southeast and South Asia. She also assists corporations and industrial and business associations in Taiwan and other multi-national corporations with trade and investment strategies and participating in international affairs.

Kristy currently serves as Non-Resident Senior Research Fellow at Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation, Committee member at the Gender Equality Committee, Executive Yuan, Expert Committee member at the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Executive Yuan, Committee member at International Affair Committee, Taipei City Government, Advisor at Association of Foreign Relations, Senior Advisor at the Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Asia and at the Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam, Advisory member at the Trade and Development Committee and at the Cross-Strait Economic Relations Committee, National Federation of Industries, Taiwan, and Committee member at General Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Kristy obtained her J.D. from the School of Law, Soochow University, Taiwan, and B.A. in Department of Foreign Literature and Languages of National Taiwan University, Taiwan.
