Sachiko Imoto is Senior Vice President of JICA who is responsible for JICA’s operations in East and Central Asia, the Caucasus, South Asia (Nepal, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Maldives), Human Development, and Economic Development.

With 30 years of her career in development cooperation, she has extensive experiences in the field of promoting good governance, gender equality, industrial development and program evaluation. She also played a key role in strategic planning and project management as Senior Representative of JICA India Office and Director of South Asia Division 3 (Sri Lanka and Maldives), thus has gained deep understanding in development issues in South Asia. Recently she has exhibited a strong leadership in developing and promoting strategic partnerships with multilateral and bilateral donors, public and private sector partners in the capacities of Director General of Media and Public Relations Department and Senior Director of Office for Global Issues and Development Partnership.

She holds a B.A. and M.P.A. from International Christian University in Tokyo.
