Wang Zhenghua

Mr. WANG Zhenghua (b. 1944) is the founder of both Shanghai International Travel Service and Spring Airlines. He holds the positions of Chairman of Spring Group and Spring Airlines. He has been recognized as a lifetime model worker by the Shanghai Municipal government. In 2014 he was recognized by a National Award for contributions to Building Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and a National Exceptional Entrepreneurship Award in 2016.

Founded in the early 1980s, Shanghai Spring International Travel Service has grown to become the largest privately owned travel service provider in China. Spring Airlines was founded in 2004 and is now the largest low cost airline in China. Spring revolutionized the airline sector by making air travel affordable with fares on average approximately 30% lower than the competition as well as promotional fares of CNY1 and discount fares of CNY 199 and CNY 299

In 2015, Spring Airlines listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the first privately owned airline to do so. The company’s current market capitalization of CNY 40 billion is the largest if any Low Cost Carrier in the Asia-Pacific region. The company’s fleet currently stands at 63 aircraft (60 Airbus A320 and 3 Boeing B737) which are based in China (Shanghai, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Shijiazhuang), Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya), Thailand (Bangkok) and Korea (Jeju).
