Takehiko 'Ken' Koyanagi

Takehiko "Ken" Koyanagi is a 28-year veteran journalist, currently covering Asian economy, business and political issues based in Bangkok. Until March 2015 he directed the initial launch and following development projects of the Nikkei Asian Review as its Publisher. During the 2009-2012 period he directed website and service development of The Nikkei Online Edition. In parallel, he extensively covered technology and media industries of Japan and the US during the 2005-2012 period as a Nikkei Senior Staff Writer. He was Silicon Valley Bureau Chief during the 2003-2005 period and a Silicon Valley senior correspondent for the preceding 2 years. Prior to that, he was assigned to cover various beats for The Nikkei daily newspaper and the Nikkei Business weekly magazine, such as the Tokyo capital market, Japanese electronics industry, Japanese financial industry and Japanese steel and other material industries, etc. after joining Nikkei Inc. in 1988.

He studied political science at Penn State University Graduate School as a Rotary Foundation Ambassador of Good Will after graduating in 1986 with a B.A. degree in Political Science and French Language from the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
